5 Finalists
Hey, this is almost like a reality TV show right here on my blog. Here are the 5 houses that seem to be the finalists. Let me know what you think of them. Oh, by the way, good call on the first of the houses I posted last time. The house sucked.
House #1:
MLS®: 11155
Benefits: Westmount subdivision; cool looking
Drawbacks: Smaller, less benefits, higher priced
House #2:
MLS®: 40700809
Benefits: Clayton Park West area, good size
Drawbacks: Unfinished basement, not much of a yard
House #3:
MLS®: 40828899
Benefits: New house, biggest yard left in subdivision
Drawbacks: Unfinished basement
House #4:
MLS®: 40829004
Benefits: New house, good sized yard, finished basement, corner jacuzzi
Drawbacks: Not really any
House #5:
MLS®: 40828980
Benefits: Good sized yard, finished basement, corner jacuzzi
Drawbacks: A bit pricey
What I took from your previous comments is to not buy a house with a minivan in the picture or kids slides in the backyard. Done!
Send your feedback. This could be it. I may just be buying a house. Woohoo!
Out.

No surprise, I'm going with #1. More character, better location in terms of closeness to everything. Less likely to lose your cream colored car when you park it out front.
I think you forgot to mention that in #3,4,5 one of the benefits is living close to Sarah & Jamin!! :)
My vote is for any of the ones near us actually. That's based on the fact that it would be great to have you live close.
For a more objective answer, I'll have Jamin give his opinion later. He loves looking at houses!
These look great--I had to look up the Westmount Subdivision, which is by the old Hfx Airport site. Great location! Having a new house is an awesome idea, one thing I might say is that having an unfinished basement isn't necessarily a drawback. While you might not have the immediate use of it, the unfinished state should be reflected in the purchase price. You finish the basement, and sell the house with that added improvement reflected in the selling price--usually much more than it would cost you to finish it. Just a thought.
Message to all:
Feel free to be superficial. I'm plenty practcial for all of us!
Which one looks the best or looks the most like 'Bryan's House'?
I like the last one from the information given, although it's hard to tell without pictures of the inside. I really like the look of the house from the outside and the jacuzzi is very appealing. Good luck!

Personally I like 3 & 4. The deciding factor for me would be to decide whats more important Jacuzzi or bigger backyard. I'd like a finished basement, but if your handy in the carpentry you can finish it yourself. I have good friends that live on Beech Tree and its a lovely area. She finds that its not too hard to get downtown from this area and loves living there.
If you want my opinion check my reply to your Bono blog.
They all look great Bryan, however, in terms of superficiality (I think thats a word?) I think #1 is less attractive than the rest. Probably because it is the oldest...and I would prefer new houses (if I was buying). At least it looks like you have a lot of options!!
Definitely number 4. The corner jacuzzi is a definite selling point. Who needs a finished basement? Besides, when you need to get it done, just call Dean Landry and he'll do it (for a fee!). How come you're not looking on Silistria Dr.?
#2 is a great house! But its on the wrong side of the pond ;) Did you mention anywhere where the other few houses are located? They look like the new construction in Timberlea, but I don't see it mentioned.
Hi Bryan, great looking houses! Superficially my choice would be #4 or #5 but I agree with Margaret that an unfinished basement is not necessarily a bad thing. You can always finish it later when you a) need the space b) have more cash flow to finish it the way you like i.e. really cool entertainment/surround sound theatre ;) so we can all come over and enjoy it!
P.S. I'm looking for those Halloween pictures you said were here, but I can't find them! Help!
Hey Lauren, the Halloween pics are here http://cnchalloween.blogspot.com/
Oh, and make sure you convince Mark to buy whichever of these houses I don't. Just think, living on the same street... how cool would that be?
Everyone:
Between houses 3, 4 and 5, all in Lakeside, assuming they are all the same price, which would you choose?
Ok, i like number 3 and 4, 4 is really nice. I like the windows on the top floor. But it's all up to you.
And if i knew where any of these places were.. i'm sure it helps to have a good location.
The jacuzzi is a nice feature!
Enjoy your hunt!
I'm back to vote for #3. For me, a house is no good if the kitchen is not the way I like it, and since I don't know...well, I am going on the way the house looks from the outside and the fact that you can finish the basement any way you like.
Just a minute - aren't 3, 4 & 5 the same house??
I think #5 is slightly nicer and with the floor/cabinet/lighting allowance you have some ability to personalize things.
