Top 20 Christian Books

I read someone's blog the other day where they listed their top 20 favorite Christian books. It got me thinking, what have I read and what do I still need to read. Here's my top 20 list, in no particular order.

Velvet Elvis - Rob Bell
The Barbarian Way - Erwin McManus
Uprising – Erwin McManus
What’s So Amazing about Grace? – Philip Yancey
Reaching for the Invisible God – Philip Yancey
The Jesus I Never Knew – Philip Yancey
Bono: In Conversation with Michka Assayas
Wild at Heart - John Eldredge
Making Life Work - Bill Hybels
Mere Christianity – C. S. Lewis
The Message – Eugene Peterson
Experiencing God – Henry Blackaby
Victory Over the Darkness – Neil T. Anderson
Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire – Jim Cymbala
Rebel with a Cause – Franklin Graham
Spiritual Leadership – Bill Hybels
Hand Me Another Brick - Charles Swindoll

Would any of these books be on your list? What am I missing?

Life Together
-Dietrich Bonhoeffer

Some of that one was really good. Other parts very conservative.

Good read though.

Interesting pattern there. 3 Yancey and only 1 Lewis? No Bonhoeffer? Are Hybels, Yancey and McManus really better than any of the classics?

I've read some other Lewis stuff, but it's tough reading.

I have Life Together sitting on my shelf, on the list to read soon. Maybe over Christmas.

What other classics should I have on my list?

For one, The Cost of Discipleship. I just don't see much not written in the past 10 years on your list.

Joy: good observation!

Bryan: not "Velvet Elvis", not in your top ten... why? why?

Why Velvet Elvis? I liked it. I liked some of the insights, such as the reminder that Jesus was a rabbi and the impacts thereof. Also, I liked the premise. He's adding thoughts to a general collective as opposed to holding the key to the truth.

Not a big fan?
