2 Articles

I found 2 articles which I found very interesting. I'd encourage you to check them out.

The first is a USA Today article titled Power, maturity steer Christian movement . In this opinion piece, the writer contrasts the current response of the Christian community to past reactions when dealing with controversial issues. I really appreciated what he had to say; if Christians truly are focusing on building and loving rather than complaining and building up walls, the world may begin to hear the message.

Here's the final paragraph of the article.

The refusal to launch a battle royal against the pro-gay messages of Brokeback Mountain doesn't show the weakness or defeatism of religious conservatives. Instead, it displays their strength and optimism as a maturing mass movement currently more interested in creating than complaining.

Also, I saw one tonight on the Chinese government's crack down on the underground church in their country. This is a shame and something we need to be mindful of.

Canadian Press Article.

The article about China is heartbreaking.

As far as the first article, does this mean the church is abandoning its call to be salt and light? I'm no fan of the radical right, but is the current situation just giving up?

Didn't read the article, but can see how the church wants to maybe pick its battles, salvation being more of the focus at this point, leaving other issues for later, perhaps? Hmmm... grace, mercy, forgiveness but not cultural relativism. Can be a difficult line to walk.

Anyway, let it be known that "24" HAS been viewed by a certain North Carolinia rez, but what's the use, since Palmer is dead?
